The ways a step can unlock

You set per step how it opens. You can also mix them within one tour: scan indoors, location-based outside.

QR code

The most reliable. Works indoors, outdoors, with a poor signal, and everybody understands it.

By location

The step opens by itself once somebody is close enough to the spot. Hands-free, the phone can stay in a pocket. Works best in open terrain: parks, village centres, nature reserves. Indoors, in museums and between tall façades GPS is unreliable; choose QR or NFC there.

NFC

A tag that opens as soon as somebody holds their phone against it. Good for places where a printed code does not fit or would stand out too much.

PIN

You hand out a code. Handy for closed groups, an event, or as a reward at the end of a task.

At a set time

The step becomes available at an agreed moment. Useful at festivals and programmes that open per part of the day.

Free tapping

No threshold, people tap through themselves. The right choice for checklists and onboardings, where the order matters but the place does not.

Privacy when unlocking by location

The distance to a step is calculated on the participant’s own phone. That location never leaves the device.
