With the Large plan you can run your tour on your own subdomain. Visitors then see your own organisation’s address instead of ours.
Large only. Your own domain means we become responsible for an address that is not ours — with the maintenance and the questions that come with it. That is why it belongs to the plan that includes that support.
Access to the DNS settings of your domain, or someone who handles those.
A CNAME record from the subdomain you want to use, for example tour, to app.stepbystepapp.nl. We arrange the security certificate automatically. That is usually done within a few minutes, but because it depends on your DNS provider it can take up to about an hour.
So tour.yourmuseum.com and not yourmuseum.com — your main domain stays with your website. An address on stepbystepapp.nl is not possible: the whole point is that visitors see your organisation in the address bar.
That word ends up on a sign next to your QR code and gets read out loud. Short, easy to spell, and it may give away what happens. These four read the same in Dutch, English and German:
Dutch words like speurtocht. and rondleiding. only work in Dutch; a German visitor misreads them. And info. works everywhere but says nothing — on a sign you want somebody typing it over to understand where they end up.
If you have several tours, you choose a subdomain per tour. Numbering gets ugly: better pick a word per tour, such as castle.yourmuseum.com and nightwatch.yourmuseum.com.
This is not available. Take your tour live and it can be set up straight away.
